Inspired by the beauty of blown glass spheres, Roast Designs has created a range of stunning contemporary chandeliers.
We have been designing and making these contemporary, beautiful chandeliers in our London studio since 2005 and each one is made to order and is unique.
Roast Designs was founded by Karen with the intention of creating a collection of sculptural chandeliers that were just as lovely unilluminated. Her inspiration came from a trip to Amsterdam and a stroll around the antiques shops there. An old Murano chandelier sat behind some dusty glass fishing floats and the seed of an idea was born.
Back in 2005 statement lighting seemed to be fall into two distinct camps: traditional chandeliers or uber modern pieces generally in neutral colours, synthetic materials and and geometric shapes. Karen wanted to create something softer, more organic and with the possibility of colour!
Something that would perform spectacularly as a light but that would look just as beautiful unlit. When the chandeliers are illuminated they project beguiling shapes and colours onto surrounding ceiling and walls but unlit they are beautiful places to rest the eye and change character depending on the light in the space, the time of day and whether the weather is sunny or overcast.
Whilst our designs are undoubtedly a contemporary take on traditional chandeliers, the combination of glass spheres and light is such a classic combination that the pieces suit both contemporary and traditional interiors introducing warmth and softness whether very neutral or an explosion of colour. Most importantly each one is made to order to suit the space, and the client, perfectly. For those looking for something unique, made to order and very beautiful, a Roast Designs chandelier will make a truly stunning and original centrepiece.
Oh and why ROAST? Karen initially started the business with a friend and after much head scratching to come up with a beautiful word to reflect the beauty of the chandeliers, we settled on the initials of our children so Ruby Otis Alice Sam and Tom.

Customer Journey
It takes about 8-12 weeks from when you confirm your order to when we deliver your chandelier and we keep you informed every step of the way with updates, images and videos which build the anticipation and keep you involved..
You will get to know the team and see what goes on behind the scenes at Roast. We’ll send you images of your frame and your glass – one of the highlights of the journey is unwrapping your glass when it arrives. And once we start making your chandelier we’ll send you images and videos so you can see it during all of the making stages and keep as involved as you want to be. We will ask you to review the colour balance and will ensure it is perfect, tweaking and adjusting until you are 100% happy. We’ll show you the lighting options and discuss installation so everything can be lined up in good time for when the chandelier is ready and we can arrange installation for you if you prefer.
When your chandelier is ready for delivery we will pack it perfectly and if we’re not delivering it ourselves, we will choose the best courier service and liaise with you to get a convenient delivery date arranged. We provide full and detailed installation instructions and of course all of the fixings and lightbulbs come with the chandelier. You’ll also receive full aftercare instructions.
